The school partners with Gugan Gulwan Youth Aboriginal Corporation and Tuggeranong Child and Family Centre to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families at NECS. Cultural Connections was developed in consultation with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students preschool to year 2 and their parents and carers are invited to attend Cultural Connections monthly during school term. Cultural Connections objectives are:
- To increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their family’s connection to culture and community.
- To enhance students’ learning about the histories and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
- Strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students’ sense of belonging.
